About Push for Pencils
Push for Pencils is Missouri's largest community-wide supply drive benefitting 90,000 kids in need. Each year, participating partners collect school supplies and/or financial donations during the month of August. Businesses, individuals, organizations and groups throughout the community host drives between August 1 and August 31.
The collected supplies are distributed to local kids in need through KidSmart's Free Educational Supply Store. Last year, Push for Pencils collected 425,000 new school supplies and raised $85,000 in financial support for St. Louis kids. Join today by registering your team.

Sadly, there are 90,000 school-aged children who live in poverty and attend school in high poverty neighborhoods. Many of these children face the reality of not having enough food to eat, no air conditioning in the summer, and no heat in the winter. They must often try to learn and succeed in school without the most basic school supplies: pencils, paper, markers, crayons and glue. Studies show that children who are equipped with the proper tools for school have a much better chance of succeeding. KidSmart believes every child deserves to go to school equipped to learn.
